This Ivorycraft game is one of the very earliest styles of tiles. It comes from the 1920's.

The history of Ivorycraft as a manufacturer is a little vague - some people assume the company was absorbed by another manufacturer. This is the only style of game Ivorycraft ever made. One thing you may notice is that the tiles are "pressed" rather than engraved - this technique can be seen if you look closely at the edges of the designs - they are raised slightly.

This particular game comes with 144 original tiles plus 8 added tiles. They are not a perfect match - I keep hoping I will find tiles that match better but the game would love a home where someone plays Chinese rules.

There are 8 original flower tiles in 2 sequenced bouquets numbered 1-4. The game comes in a "trumpet" style case with its original leather handle but what is really fabulous are the racks. The marbling and swirling on these racks is fantastic. They have metal E's and tokens are included.
