Description:

I have been adopted and now have a lovely new home!

Offered for adoption is a simply lovely game with thick bone tiles and a very neat Rosewood case with bone drawer pulls.

The one bamboo is a stylish sitting sparrow design. And check out the wonderfully detailed bouquets of flowers and the delicate circle carvings.

There are a gorgeous set of flowers with this game. There are 2 complete bouquets each numbered 1-4. One set is herbal flowers and the second is vintage writing tools and parchments.

This game is from the early to mid 1940's. It can be dated by the "simple" style character tiles.

The game is housed in its original Rosewood box - all the brass corner trim is in place. Note: it is missing one of its top handles - the one that is still attached remains strong. And check out all the original bone drawer pulls.

The door on this box is different than the traditional sliding drawers - it actually lowers from the top and then tucks safely under the bottom drawer. You never have to worry where it has been put - it stays with the case.

There are a total of 152 tiles with a massive bone to bamboo ratio "70/30" - 70% bone and 30% bamboo. 152 tiles means this game has all its original tiles (144 playing tiles). Added to these 144 tiles are 8 matching tiles that have been stickered for use as jokers. Because of the added tiles this game can be played with using National Mah Jong League (NMJL) or traditional Chinese rules - the best of both worlds!

My Mahj group have had many happy hours playing with this game and we all agree the feel of the lovely thick tiles makes playing with this game extra special. With the addition of the extra tiles this game can be played with right out of the box - whatever your style of play.

Let me know if I can help with any more information.

This lovely little game is waiting to head to its new home!
