Description:

I am now adopted and have a lovely new home!

This really nice "IVORYCRAFT" game offered here for adoption is a lovely very early Bakelite game housed in its traditional style suitcase. I have put this into my WBL (worn but lovable category) it is not a perfect game but it still has plenty of playing life left in it.

If you take a look at the backs of the tiles they have all aged randomly - but luckily there are so many variations to the tiles that they make it impossible to know which tile is which when they are face down. When my Mahj girls played with this set they fondly referred to it as my "peaches and cream" set :)

The game comes with 4 beautiful and shiny swirled burgundy Bakelite racks. The racks have matching metal Bakelite E's. All the flippies are working and attached and the ends are not badly tarnished - in fact they are darn good for a game of this age.

This game features the "swooping sparrow" one bamboo, the simple style character tiles indicating that the game is likely from the early to mid-1930's. This game would originally have been made with 146 tiles (144 for play and 2 spares) - I was lucky enough to find some matching orphans to convert this game into National Mah Jong League (NMJL) play with 152 great tiles. I have added stickers to the 8 orphans so this game is ready to play right out of the box.

The case is in very nice condition with its original leather handle that is strong and has had no repairs or reinforcement. Both latches work and the case looks good.

No matter the style of game you play (Chinese or NMJL) this game is ready for play right out of the box !

REMEMBER: Despite my age I have many more years of life left in me ... I may be a little more worn than some games on this website but I know someone will still find me lovable :)
