Description:

I have been adopted and now have a lovely new home!

MET was based in New York and was known to have manufactured 3 styles of Bakelite games. The Peacock, Parrot and Perching Pheasant. This particular style is the highly collectable Peacock game. The tiles in this game have aged to a wonderful muffled butterscotch. I love the engraving on the tiles - clear and crisp.

The game is from the late 1950's. There are 144 playing tiles making it ideal for Chinese rules mah jong play.

The case for this game is in really great condition. There are corner scuffs but most of the case is unmarked and it has its original leather handle which is still in great condition.

I particularly like the impressive swirling on these beautiful burgundy Bakelite racks and there are even beautifully swirled butterscotch E's and plenty of tokens.

I realize not everyone plays Chinese rules but I do think this game is worthy of a new home - perhaps now is the time to learn Chinese rules - to help you convert I can include a complimentary set of my personalized "cheat sheets" so you can learn the basics easily and start playing with this game right away ...
