Description: I have been adopted and now have a new home. Metro Games (not to be confused with MET games) was based in New York and can be recognized by the style of its soaring sparrow one bamboo. Other manufacturer's copied this style but Metro Games can be spotted by the number of wing feathers and the style of the collar on the neck of the bird. The game is from the late 1930's. It would have originally had 146 tiles. Additional Metro tiles have been added to this game to make it playable using NMJL rules. Check out the picture of the backs of the tiles to see how lovely a match the tiles are. Note also that the tiles have aged to a gorgeous deep butterscotch colour - the colour reminds me of toffee. There are 8 flowers - 2 bouquets numbered 1-4 and 8 stickered tiles to be used as jokers. The racks are made from a swirled burgundy Bakelite. The racks have matching metal E's. The case is original and has a strong leather handle that is in great condition. The original burgundy velvet is present in the game's lid. The original keys to the case are also still with the game (an added bonus as these usually get lost over the years). Tokens are included with the game. |
